Come Walk with Me
Come walk with me
Come talk with me
Come share with me,
the pain and pleasures
of this game
we call Life.
Come walk with me
Come talk with me
Come play with me,
as we share together
all the joys of the game
we call Life.
Come walk with me,
the pathways
of spring and summer days.
Come let me show you how
we may enjoy together,
the colour of the autumn days.
Come walk with me,
as together we may
include in our day,
reminiscences of yesteryear,
as we walk through the winter
of our days.

Reflections
I look in the mirror and I do see
someone who could not possibly, Be me.
The reflection I see
Is not the age I think to be.
The grey in the hair, the sag in the chin,
at what time did this begin?
Is this a laughter line I see?
It couldn't be age
around the eyes of me!
I look in the mirror and I do see
Someone who most definietly, is ME!
I see the wisdom the years have brought.
I see the pain of trauma past
I see the joy that life has held
and given to me.
The mirror reflects, the age I am.
It does not see, that in my heart
I am still me.
The girl who ran and laughed with friends.
The mother with a babe in arms.
The wife, the lover.
The mirror does not see;
the joy I had as netball coach,
the taxi driver for free
to a cricket team, two or three.
As I look in the mirror,
Yes, I see
a reflection in the eyes of me
that is most definitely me.
Brown eyes look carefully back to me
in joy and delight
At what I can still be.

A passion for words and a love of reading led me at an early age into poetry. It seemed to me that flights of imagination, as in a daydream, could be realised succinctly through poetry. The use of allegory, metaphor and other symbology to me is the use of the word for an experience similar to a guided meditation. As a tool poetry can be the healer, the teacher and the spiritual guidance towards our own growth in inner strength. It brings a peace to the soul both for the poet and the reader.
